A battle of newcomers! Dark Phoenix makes her industry-wide premiere exclusively at Hit the Mat. In a pre-match interview, she talks about her Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Jiu-Jitsu and other training, and challenges any man to a battle.

Enter Kato, a scrawny looking college student looking to make his mark in the sports entertainment business. Dark Phoenix can’t help but laugh, thinking this will be an easy fight.

The match begins, and it’s clear from the get-go that both fighters know what they are doing. Both trash talk when they have the advantage, and neither are shy about striking while grappling. Dark Phoenix uses her knees, elbows and kicks along with open palm strikes and punches, while Kato prefers grappling on the ground and quick punches. The action is fast paced and both fighters put forth a lot of effort. Perhaps Dark Phoenix should have listened more to Kato’s introduction, as she does not hear he actively competes in MMA fights!
